Outside of work, what do you ADEPT at?
When the laptop’s closed over a bank holiday, I am quite ADEPT at finding myself in a new country. I plan meticulously ahead of time but then it’s different when I land, where I improvise depending on the vibe and who I meet.
The count right now is 52 countries — of sampling local cuisines, learning the history and fumbling through the local language.
What’s a dream project you’d love to work on?
Not necessarily a project but I’d love to work on an American late night talk show like Late Night or the Tonight Show. As a kid, it was appointment TV, in that I stayed up late most school nights to watch with fascination.
I loved how it had a sense of ‘you had to be there’, that if I missed it one night, I couldn’t watch it the next.
What inspires you outside of work?
I’m inspired whenever I meet someone new and discover they have a niche interest or have lived a life off the beaten track — or at least a life different from mine.
To me, it’s a quick way to find out what drives them. (Natch, I’m an extrovert)
